What Is Jing Screen Capture Software & How Does It Work?

Jing screen capture is a great little tool that every person new to Marketing on-line should arm themselves with.  It’s FREE and it’s so easy to use even for total beginners.

Jing

You can download Jing absolutely for free and then set up a shortcut to your desktop so that the little ray of yellow sunshine (the Jing icon) will always be readily available to you as and when you need it.  Make sure you keep it somewhere very handy, like your desktop, because once you know how to use it, you’ll not be able to stop yourself from using it daily.

Once you’ve downloaded Jing you can use it to take snapshots directly from your computer screen, images that you like and want to share or keep and file away for later.  All you do is simply click on the Jing icon, click the capture button and then save it to a file on your hard drive.  This is a great way to add professional looking images to your blog.  Not only can you take these quick and simple snapshots of images on your screen but Jing also features Jing video capture too which means that you can also take short videos and add them to your blog without having to show your face which is for most beginners on-line a huge relief – and I have to admit it was the same for me when I first began on-line too.

Downloading The Jing Screen Capture Software

Downloading the software starts with creating an account with Screencast.com, the company who owns it, then you simply download the software and away you go. I’ve outlined this simple procedure in a pdf which you can read by clicking here.

How To Add A ‘Call To Action’ To Your Facebook Timeline Image Using Jing

Although Jing can be used for many different things, one of my favourite ways to use it is if I want to add a message or a ‘call to action’ on my Facebook timeline cover image because it’s so simple to do.  There are many other pieces of software that you can use to do this, but I think this is one of the easiest for people to grasp, especially those who are not very tech savvy but know the basics of Power Point.

I’ve shot a quick video showing you how I do this using a combination of  Jing and Power Point click here  to watch the video.

How To Set Up A Jing Shortcut For Your Desktop

As I mentioned earlier, I personally like to keep the Jing icon, my little ray of sunshine as I like to call it, always visible on my desktop so that when I need it, it’s immediately to hand.  I’ve also outlined in a pdf how to set this up as a shortcut which you can read by clicking here.

Jing is part of a suite of office tools that come from Screencast.com who also provide Snagit and Camtasia software, both of which are paid for products and are excellent but from a beginners point of view Jing is definitely the one you want to use to start off with purely because it’s not only free but because it’s simple to use. You can also use Jing to make short videos, but I’m not going to cover that in this blog post today, however once you download the Jing software there are some easy to follow instructions relating to getting started and making videos.
